Framingham Union Aid Association Fund Raiser

 
The FRAMINGHAM UNION AID ASSOCIATION has been raising money for many years for several great causes. They are currently focused on scholarships for the nursing program at Framingham State College. For many years they have held a fund raising tennis round robin and luncheon at our club in late May.

FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2009 ....The Framingham Union Aid Association will hold their annual TENNIS DAY for women.  Time: 8:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. It consists of a Round Robin followed by a Luncheon. Cost: $25 Per Person.  Rain date: FRIDAY, JUNE 5.

Reservation deadline is MAY 22, 2009.  Tennis limited to 48 players.

Attention Early Bird Players

The courts will be closed for maintenance on Friday, May 29 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.  Courts will reopen for general play by 1 p.m.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12. The WOMEN'S MEMBER-GUEST ROUND ROBIN will be held from 9 a.m. to noon followed by the LUNCHEON.  We hope to have as many as 15 teams with a possible three divisions. Cost: $30 per team. Sign up at the club, call Warren at the club, or send Warren email at wkindred37@comcast.net.

Team Matches

MEN'S TEAM MATCHES....A very busy week ahead with team matches Monday thru Thursday evenings (two of them are make-ups caused by recent rains). Men's teams use three courts from about 5:45 p.m. until 8 p.m.  The other three courts are open for general play. We ask that members refrain from bringing guests on the evenings of matches.

Our Women's Teams play at home on Tuesday, May 19 and on Thursday, May 21.  They use courts 1, 2, 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. until they complete two out of three sets, usually finishing between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. The only home team match the following week will be on Tuesday, May 26, 9:00 - 11 a.m. The Women's team will require the first four courts.

On Thursday, May 21, the Men's C Team will be playing on courts 1,2 and 3 between 5:45 and 8 p.m. The other three courts will be open for general play.

TOURNAMENT SIGN-UP SHEETS WILL BE POSTED THIS WEEK.   Entries for SINGLES close May 30. You may enter only TWO singles in the various age brackets and divisions we offer. Some singles matches may begin as early as Saturday afternoon, June 6. Relaxed schedule but all first rounds must be completed by July 11.

Entries for MIXED DOUBLES  A and B (enter only one) to start on June 20  will close on Sunday, June 14. Entries for MEN'S A and B DOUBLES (YOU CAN ENTER ONLY ONE)  and for WOMEN'S A DOUBLES will close on Sunday, June 21 and will start on Saturday afternoon, June 27.

Warren's Tip on Foot Faults

Foot Faulters Beware - Foot faults are against the rule in tennis. In spite of this may players violate this rule. Warren has spoken a number of players about their foot faults in the past. Please focus your attention on eliminating foot faults. It is the right of the opponent to call foot faults, just like it is the right to call the ball out. We want to encourage all players to observe this rule.

The Printed Directory

THE PRINTED DIRECTORY will be going to the printers later this week and will then be passed out at the club and/or mailed our.
