2012 Tournaments!

This year the Tournament Committee is again trying to achieve open court time balanced by an expectation for fun and well-run tournaments in our many different divisions. As in the past, almost all members have been helpful and cooperative in scheduling and playing matches in a timely fashion. However, inevitably, weather, injuries and vacations result in delays that hold up entire categories and create serious backups for open court time. Accordingly, we have made some adjustments to tournament rules. These are intended to add responsibility on the part of the participants to schedule and play matches in a timely manner and to allow for flexibility to Warren and tournament referees to monitor the tournaments in order to assure fair and consistent results.

Last year the Club held a very successful Mixed A and B Doubles, Men's A and B Doubles and Women's Tournament. We had a record number of participants especially in Mixed Doubles and Men's B Doubles events. Fully one third of our membership plays in singles, doubles or mixed events. The Tournament Committee is delighted with the participation of so many players. However, the large draws presented a number of challenges including court usage and match arrangements. Frequent match delays occurred and made the tournament operation quite trying for Warren and the Tournament Committee volunteers.
